A Pink Rose in Winter

Sunday Jan 9, 2011

Albert Einstein said: “Look deep, deep, into nature then you will understand everything better.”

There is something absolutely captivating about a pink rose. It is terribly difficult to describe the feeling in words. Today Bette Midler’s song  “The Rose” came on the radio and I understood.

“…When the nights, have been too lonely, and the road, has been too long,

and you think, that love is only for the lucky, and the strong.

Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snow,

lies a seed that with the sun’s love, in the spring becomes the rose….”

Celebrating the life of a pink rose in the dead of winter is about celebrating hope. Hope for rebirth, hope for a future, hope for safety, new friends, love and a joy filled life. It is interesting to note that all it takes is one bloom of hope to create a spiritual garden.

Capsized

Sunday Dec 12, 2010

Sometimes there are business issues that are so multifaceted that a ready-made solution is not so easily found. Preparing a list of pros and cons just doesn’t cut it. Well before throwing in the towel try turning everything upside down. I have discovered it is an interesting way to discover new pieces of a puzzle that previously were not visible. Solutions are not as far away as you think.

Discover Your Business Fire

Friday Nov 19, 2010

Martin Luther King attracted and inspired millions of followers. He is considered one of the world’s greatest leaders. His message was “I have a dream”. It was not “I have a plan”. When attacking a competitive marketplace it seems to me that as businesses we spend too much time planning, defining product features, working on countless spreadsheets, defining USPs, etc… To achieve a real breakthrough understanding what drives behavior to buy our products and services is key. Apple has been largely successful because they have determined that they are not just a computer company selling products with cool features. They are a computer company that has discovered their business fire. What fires your business?
