MyHubTV: The Online Video Directory

Tuesday Aug 7, 2007

When YouTube was launched in a San Mateo County garage in February 2005 by Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, little did the two young founders know that their call to Broadcast Yourself would quickly catch on like wildfire all over the world.

With the Internet gradually developing into the medium that people watch rather than read, online video has become the hot buzzword of new media. Small businesses have realized that online video ads are economical add-ons to Yellow Pages and other local advertising options. The growing consumer response to online video is leading to cost-efficient advertising options for local and small businesses.

Last April, a Miami-based Internet company took the online video trend a notch further by launching MyHubTV.comĀ  a video-based business directory that lets businesses showcase their products and services worldwide across the internet for a prepaid annual fee.

MyHubTV.com uses a tagging system to give businesses the ability to customize the ways in which customers locate information about their products and services, delivering a more effective tool to reach consumers. Through this new media, they provide organizations, corporations, sole proprietors, and even independent contractors a way to advertise themselves via streaming video.

The site puts consumers in control of their interactive experience by including such features as Favorites, Private Groups, Comments, and Send the Video links. Visitors to MyHubTV.com can review videos grouped by area of interest, from real estate to retail, to landscaping, leisure and lodging. Additional features such as Videos Most Frequently Viewed and those most highly rated is also available.

Through their individual accounts, account holders may also access real-time site statistics about the frequency of their video’s downloads. Companies interested in the service may pariticipate in either a monthly or annual fee plan, at $325 per year. A traditional secondary avenue of advertising at MyHubTV.com is available via traditional banner ads.

“Not the phone, not a print brochure, not even a Web site – none of these other communication vehicles deliver a message to consumers as efficiently and as cost-effectively as video does,” said MyHubTv.com founder Hector Arenas in a recent press release. The company’s ultimate goal is to bring the business community and consumers together by way of video advertising. Given the ongoing video revolution, that goal is not too far fetched
